The Advance LI501-H4 is a superimposed pulse ignitor for high pressure sodium ballast circuits from 70 to 400 watts. It delivers the high-voltage starting pulse an HPS lamp needs to strike, then drops out of the circuit once the arc is established. A lamp that will not start on a known-good ballast and capacitor is the classic sign of a failed ignitor.
